The Love

Dakota Warriors support the work by Harvest Centre headed by Petrina. In line with their vision “To break the cycle of poverty through education”, we believe there is a huge distinction between providing the hungry with fish and teaching them how to fish.Harvest Centre is a non-profit organization established to address various issues in the development of the poor community of Sentul and others like it.  Since 1998, Harvest Centre have been involved in bringing medical/health care, home improvement and food provision for underprivileged families.  Harvest Centre channels their resources towards focusing on providing educational programs for urban poor children addressing the learning difficulties and challenges faced by them.

Harvest’s Vision
To break the cycle of poverty through education

Harvest’s Mission
To become the one-stop education center for Sentul

The IMAGINE Program

What is the IMAGINE program? The IMAGINE program raises support for underprivileged children in Sentul to receive Comprehensive Education at Harvest’s learning centre.Children born into impoverished families have odds working against them from the beginning. They generally have serious learning difficulties and struggle with reading, writing, spelling and arithmetic.  Many of  these enrolled in government schools find themselves out of the academic race, even before they  begin, dashing all hope of breaking out of the poverty cycle from the beginning.  But receiving an integrated, holistic education will enable them to break their poverty cycle.  At Harvest’s learning centre, we strive to ensure that every underprivileged child is given equal access and opportunity to an effective and wholesome education, developing them to their fullest potential. Equipped with this they will be empowered to break out of the bondage of poverty and negative mindsets.  In turn they are empowered to become catalysts for transformation, bringing about long term and lasting development in their community.Education mitigates youth social problems such as:

  • delinquency.
  • sexual transmitted diseases.
  • teenage pregnancy.
  • functional illiteracy

Education

  • Empowers individuals
  • Liberates
  • Is powerful
  • Transform communities and breaks the cycle of poverty
